New Directions for Millersville University
Dr Daniel Wubah became the 15th President of Millersville University on July 1, 2018. He came to Millersville from Washington and Lee University where he served as Senior Advisor to the President working closely with the President in all aspects of the university. Prior to his appointment as Senior Advisor, Dr. Wubah served as the university Provost.
His former positions include deputy provost and vice president for undergraduate education at Virginia Tech; associate provost and professor of zoology at the University of Florida; associate dean of the College of Science and Mathematics and special assistant to the president at James Madison University, and department chair at Towson University.
Dr. Wubah has a passion for excellence in liberal arts education. His professional interests include providing access to first generation college students and international research opportunities for students. From 2003 to 2016, he directed the longest continuously running NSF-funded international Research Experiences for Undergraduates program in sub-Sahara Africa.
Dr. Wubah enjoys interacting with people across campus and attending events in the local community to connect with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and friends of the University.
Dr. Wubah earned his bachelor's degree with honors in botany and a diploma in science education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He earned an MS in biology from the University of Akron, OH, and Ph.D. in botany from the University of Georgia, GA.
He is an elected Fellow of the American Association for Advancement of Science and has testified before the U.S. Congress on how to prepare the 21st century science workforce. He has an extensive scholarly publication list and has received several grants from public agencies and private foundations. He was a trustee of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and has served on several boards.
He and his wife, Judith, have two daughters and two grandchildren.
