Noah McCardell, a senior at Solanco High School, has been selected as Lancaster South Rotary Club’s Student of the Month for April, 2016. He was presented to the club by Dr. Brian Bliss, Superintendent of the Solanco School District.

Noah is the son of Randy and Kim McCardell of Nottingham.

Noah is a distinguished honor roll student, and a member of the Scholastic National Honor Society. He is a member of the Interact Club. Noah was the quarterback and punter for the Solanco football team, which shared the Lancaster –Lebanon League Section 2 title this year. He earned a number of awards for his achievements on the football field, including being named as the player of the week by PennLive and WGAL. He was also named as the Subway Scholar Athlete of the week. Noah was a 2nd team Lancaster Lebanon League All-Star as a quarterback and punter this season. He was also named as a PennLive Offensive All-Star. Noah is also a member of the track team where he one of the top javelin throwers in the Lancaster Lebanon League.

In the community, Noah volunteers at Schreiber Pediatrics. He also participates in library and pool cleanups in the Quarryville community. Noah has also volunteered with the Solanco Football Boosters’ Daddy-Daughter dance.

Noah enjoys hunting, working-out, playing and watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.

He plans to attend the University of Delaware where he’ll major in civil engineering. Noah hopes to play football in college, and eventually earn a master’s degree. 

 

Madeline Weyman, a senior at Solanco High School, has been selected as Lancaster South Rotary Club’s Student of the Month for April, 2016. She was presented to the club by Dr. Brian Bliss, Superintendent of the Solanco School District.

Madeline is the daughter of Scott and Irene Weyman of Quarryville.

Madeline is an honor student and a member of the Scholastic National Honor Society. She is also a member of the Spanish Honor Society. During her freshman year, Madeline was a Solanco Scholar in Spanish and has won Bronze and Silver Medals in the National Spanish Examination – an examination to measure the performance and achievement of students studying Spanish as a second language. Madeline is a member of the chorale, orchestra, marching band and concert band, and has been a part of school musical productions. She is a member of Link Crew, and the Spanish Club.

Madeline is the website manager at Income Store in Quarryville.

In her spare time, Madeline enjoys singing, reading, baking, poetry and spending time with her family and friends.

She plans to attend a 4 year college to study English and Spanish. Ultimately, Madeline would like to become a teacher.

 

Student of the Month is selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as school and community service.
