Bill Chalfant retired from the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office in July of 2020 as a County Detective with over 17yrs service. Prior to that he retired as Detective with the Lancaster City Police with 26 yrs of service. He is a co-founder and past president of the Pa. Chapter of the East Coast Gang Investigators Association. He has participated in numerous gang projects on a local, regional and national level to include:
as National Gang Advisory Board member for the Institute of Public Safety Partnerships at the University of Chicago; National Department of Justice Route 222 Corridor Project; and committee advisory member for the Center for Safe Schools Pennsylvania Youth Gang Data Project. He was a certified instructor for the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission and was a member of a committee to develop the ‘first-ever’ mandatory gang awareness curriculum for police officers in the state of Pennsylvania. He is a court-recognized gang expert and has provided training at numerous local, regional and national conferences throughout his career.
In 2019, then Det. Chalfant was chosen as a recipient for an Outstanding Dedication Award for Exceptional Law Enforcement Efforts at Combating Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs by the International Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Investigators Association at its conference in Spokane, Wa.
